De witloofboer
Geworteld in de bijbel van zijn dorp
met handen die zijn eigen lot bepalen
en woorden die hem nauwelijks vertalen
-alles wat hij bereikt ligt op een worp
vandaan- zo dekt het jaar hem toe
met hard labeur, nooit levensmoe:
eerst 't kiemen van het zaad in 't prille
voorjaarskleed,
dan 't zorgzeer om de plant in hete zomeruren
bij natte herfst soms in de laag een
reumabeet met aan zijn winterbed de
pruttelende vuren...
Maar wanneer het witte goud onder zijn
ogen rijst
wordt plots de grond zijn orgel dat zijn arbeid prijst.
