Het Houthulstse gemeentehuis is in Vlaamse stijl gebouwd en dateert van 1935. De architect hiervan is Viérin, dezelfde als van de kerk van Houthulst. Het allereerste gemeentehuis was ooit een herberg.
Houthulst werd in 1928 een zelfstandige gemeente. Het duurde echter nog tot 1936 vooraleer het gemeentehuis werd ingehuldigd.
