"Moeder had voor de gehele familie een abonnement genomen in 't Vlaams teater, de Minard-schouwburg, anders gezegd bij Fauconnier. Iedere zondag en dinsdag gingen we er heen met een vigilante van Mme Van Keulebroeck, huurhoudster uit de Slijpstraat (...). De komedie begon om 6 uur en om 8 uur was het pauze. Dan gingen we naar het foyer en soupeerden er met biefsteak en pommes de terre frites met pikante saus, of met stoofkarbonaden, wat eigenlijk de specialiteit van het restaurant was.
