Hou je van architectuur? Dan is het districtshuis van Deurne een must-see. Deze modernistische realisatie uit 1964 werd ontworpen door Eduard Van Steenbergen, architect van de Unitas Tuinwijk en het Koninklijk Atheneum. Na zijn overlijden nam zijn zoon Edward de afwerking over. Het gebouw combineert een administratieve en een representatieve vleugel rond een centrale toren van 39 meter. Het interieur uit de jaren zestig is goed bewaard. Voor het gebouw staat het kunstwerk ‘Opwaarts’ van Jozef Kets, symbool voor de groei en ambitie van Deurne. Weetje: in de eerste steen zit een tijdscapsule uit 1964, met een boek en muntstukken.
