Kijk naar het bas-reliëf ‘Cycles Alcyon’ op de voorgevel van huisnummer 63. Hier woonde een Brusselse vertegenwoordiger van dit Franse fietsenmerk.
Het Franse bedrijf Alcyon begint in 1903 met de productie van fietsen. Tussen 1907 en 1910 rijdt de populaire Belgische wielrenner Cyrille Van Hauwaert voor het succesvolle wielerteam van Alcyon. Ook de Brusselse renner en drievoudig Tourwinnaar Philippe Thys is erg gewild door de Franse fabrikant. Maar hij blijft liever bij concurrent Peugeot. Die neemt in 1954 het bedrijf ook over.
