Het park kreeg een nieuwe invulling als prettige wildernis met aandacht voor historische elementen. Zoals bijvoorbeeld de oude ‘motte’ van Herleghem, die op oude kaarten werd gedetecteerd en vervolgens door de dienst stadarcheologie werd in kaart gebracht en gedocumenteerd.
Bij de inrichting van het park werd in belangrijke mate rekening gehouden met de visie van een actiegroep van buurtbewoners. Er werd bewust gekozen voor het concept van een wild park dat uitnodigt tot ontdekking en avontuur.
