In 2003 gebeurde iets bijzonders op de Turnhoutsebaan: de deuren van de voormalige Cinema Roma zwaaiden weer open. Ontelbaar veel uren inzet van vrijwilligers zorgden ervoor dat de majestueuze cinemazaal werd gerenoveerd – een operatie die pas in 2015 helemaal rond was. Vandaag vertoont De Roma nog steeds films. Maar het is vooral ook een trekpleister voor concerten en sociaal-culturele activiteiten.
