Welkom in De Roma! Deze indrukwekkende zaal op de Turnhoutsebaan opende in 1928 als grootste cinema van Antwerpen. Naast filmsterren stonden hier ook muziekiconen als Lou Reed en Paul McCartney en Iron Maiden op het podium. Na de sluiting in 1982 dreigde verval, tot vrijwilligers het gebouw vanaf 2002 eigenhandig restaureerden. Vandaag zorgen ze nog altijd voor de warme sfeer, van de bar tot de backstage. De Roma is geen gewone concertzaal, maar het kloppende hart van Borgerhout, op de al even vibrerende Turnhoutsebaan. Weetje: De Roma is niet genoemd naar de hoofdstad van Italië, maar naar de eerste letters van zijn bouwheer Jean-Baptiste Romeo en zijn vrouw Ludvina Malev. Romantisch he?
