De Heizelvlakte is niet de enige plek in de stad die ingrijpende veranderingen onderging voor de Wereldtentoonstellingen van de 20e eeuw: in de jaren '50 vonden er immers ook grote werkzaamheden plaats in de wijk Kunstberg. Daar werd namelijk het Congrespaleis van Brussel ingehuldigd in het kader van Expo 58, ontworpen door Jules Ghobert en Maurice Houyoux. Zij richtten er verschillende ondergrondse ruimtes, twee auditoria en een expositieruimte in. Toen er eind jaren '90 asbest ontdekt werd, moest de site tijdelijk gesloten worden. In 2005 gingen bovendien de restauratie- en uitbreidingswerken van start. In 2009 opende het paleis opnieuw de deuren, nu onder de naam Square - Brussels Convention Centre.
