Deze picknickplaats bevindt zich bij de Magdalenakreek langs de Groene 62.
De Spoorlijn 62 of Groene 62 is de voormalige, 22 kilometer lange spoorweg tussen Oostende en Torhout. De lijn had nummer 62, en is vandaag een natuur-, wandel- en fietsgebied. Een privémaatschappij legde halfweg de 19de eeuw een enkele spoorlijn aan tussen Oostende en Armentières zodat de Parijzenaars via die weg naar de opkomende badstad Oostende konden reizen.
Het traject doorkruist onder meer het Oostends Krekengebied in de middeleeuwse polders. Deze kustvlakte ligt tot 5 meter onder het hoogwaterpeil van de zee.
