De wandeling is gelinkt aan goud. De route volgt de Amblève die dwars door het oude Ardens massief loopt. Langs de oevers zien we af en toe sporen van een vroege exploitatie van goudzoekers. Deze wandeling gaat tevens door "Wolfsbuch" of het bos van de wolf dat zich tot buiten de Oostkantons uitbreidt. Ook al horen we zijn gehuil de laatste 100 jaar niet meer in de Ardennen, de etymologie van het bos herinnert ons aan de aanwezigheid van de wolf.
