De burcht van Nideggen ligt bovenop een rots. De eerste steen van de burcht werd gelegd in 1177. In 1979 werd het burchtmuseum geopend in de woontoren van het complex.
De omgeving van Nideggen kent vele bontzandsteenrotsen, die vaak prachtige uitzichten geven op de omgeving van Nideggen en het Roerdal.
