Het bedrijf werd in 1926 opgericht door Martin Jansen en Karl Kronenberg, beide werktuigbouwkundigen van de Emder Nordseewerke, in Westrhauderfehn en werd tot aan het faillissement in 1987 als een familiebedrijf geleid. De nadruk lag oorspronkelijk op de latere motorisering van kleinere voertuigen van de Fehnschifffahrt in het kader van een noodwet voor kleine scheepvaart van de Reichsregierung. Het eerste nieuwe schip was het in 1927 gebouwde vrachtmotorschip Henriette. Ook werden trekboten en platbodemschepen, aangeschaft uit Nederland, verbouwd en gemotoriseerd voor de plaatselijke wadvaart. Bovendien werd ook ander machinebouwbedrijfskosten verricht, zoals de motorisering van pompinstallaties en windmolens. Kronenberg verliet het bedrijf in 1931.
