Het gehele station met zijn hoge gebouwen staat onder monumentenzorg. Behoudens zijn het ontvangstgebouw, het seinenhuisje, een goederenloods en het toiletgebouw. Ook behoren de watertoren, een pompgebouw, het stationshuis en het washuis tot het ensemble.
Het station ligt aan de spoorlijn Neustadt – Meyenburg ten westen van het centrum van de wijk Blumenthal. In de gemeente Heiligengrabe, waartoe Blumenthal sinds 2003 behoort, zijn er met Rosenwinkel en Heiligengrabe evenals Liebenthal aan de spoorlijn Wittenberge–Strasburg nog drie andere stations. Het station Blumenthal beschikt over twee doorlopende sporen en een laadperron aan het perron van het station.
