Het poppentheater Dessau is een figuurtoneel in Dessau-Roßlau en een afdeling van het Anhaltische Theater.
Als directe reactie op de gastvoorstelling van Obraszow in de DDR besloot de gemeenteraad van Dessau in 1954 tot de oprichting van een onder stadsleiding staande poppentheater en nam de poppenvoorraad en de decors van het handpoppentheater van Rudolf Zillings over. Als vaste speelplek kreeg het theater de vroegere zaal van een vrijmetselaarsloge aan de Ferdinand-v.-Schill-Straße in de nieuwe stad van Dessau. Het theater behoort daarmee tot de oudste stedelijke poppentheateroprichtingen op het gebied van de voormalige DDR. Het repertoire bestond voornamelijk uit kindvriendelijke opvoeringen. Naast handpoppen werden ook steeds meer stokpoppen naar Sovjetvoorbeeld gebruikt. In 1981 werd het poppentheater als vijfde afdeling aan het toenmalige landestheater gekoppeld.
