Het station Nottuln-Appelhülsen bevindt zich in Appelhülsen, een wijk van de gemeente Nottuln in de Kreis Coesfeld, Noordrijn-Westfalen.
De Köln-Mindener Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft ontving op 28 mei 1866 de concessie voor de bouw van een spoorlijn van Wanne naar Osnabrück. Dit was onderdeel van de interregionale Hamburg-Venloer spoorlijn, die op haar beurt onderdeel moest worden van een internationale Parijs-Hamburg spoorlijn. Op 1 januari 1870 startte de CME het personenvervoer op het eerste deeltraject tussen station Wanne aan haar hoofdlijn en station Münster (Hoofdstation), gelijktijdig werd het station Appelhülsen opgericht.
