La gare de Nottuln-Appelhülsen se trouve à Appelhülsen, un quartier de la commune de Nottuln dans le district de Coesfeld, en Rhénanie-du-Nord-Westphalie.
La compagnie de chemin de fer Köln-Mindener a reçu le 28 mai 1866 la concession pour la construction d'une ligne de chemin de fer de Wanne à Osnabrück. Celle-ci faisait partie de la ligne régionale Hambourg-Venlo, qui devait elle-même devenir une partie d'une ligne internationale Paris-Hambourg. Le 1er janvier 1870, la CME a lancé le transport de passagers sur le premier tronçon entre la gare de Wanne sur sa ligne principale et la gare principale de Münster, tandis que la gare d'Appelhülsen était également en construction.
