In 1964 werd het Eifelpark onder de naam "Hochwildpark Eifel" geopend als het eerste wildpark van de Bondsrepubliek Duitsland. Met de introductie van de bruine beren nam Berlijn in 1969 het patroon voor de Bärenschlucht over. In 1975 opende de toenmalige minister-president van Rheinland-Pfalz, Helmut Kohl, het nieuwe bergwildpark in het Eifelpark. In de daaropvolgende jaren kwamen er meer attracties bij. Sinds 2004 wordt het Eifelpark, dat tot dan toe samen met het Kurpfalz-Park en het Panorama-Park werd beheerd, vanuit Haan beheerd.
