Het Zanthier-plein is een van de eerste stations op de Heinrich-Heine-trail van Ilsenburg naar de Brocken. Een gedenkteken ter ere van Forester Hans Dietrich von Zanthier staat in een open plek. Dit was een van de oprichters van moderne bosbeheer en opende de eerste bosbouwschool in Duitsland rond het jaar 1764 in Ilsenburg.
Er is ook een kleine toevluchtsoord op de Zanthierplaats. Wie hier al een pauze moet maken,kan beter niet aan de trail naar de top van de Brocken beginnen.
