La piazza Zanthier è una delle prime stazioni del sentiero Heinrich-Heine da Ilsenburg al Brocken. Un monumento in onore del forestale Hans Dietrich von Zanthier si trova in un'area aperta. Egli fu uno dei fondatori della moderna gestione forestale e aprì la prima scuola di silvicoltura in Germania intorno all'anno 1764 a Ilsenburg.
C'è anche un piccolo rifugio nella piazza Zanthier. Chi deve già fare una pausa qui, sarebbe meglio che non iniziasse il sentiero verso la cima del Brocken.
