De Schwarza is een ongeveer 53 kilometer lange, linkse zijrivier van de Saale in Thüringen, Duitsland. Het was het rivierlandschap van het jaar 2006/2007.
De rivier ontspringt nabij Scheibe-Alsbach, 250 meter ten noordwesten van de Rennsteig, op een hoogte van 717 m boven zeeniveau. Het water van de Schwarza-bron komt vanuit grote diepte omhoog langs een breuklijn tussen buntsandsteen en leisteen met een constante temperatuur van 6 graden Celsius. Deze werd in 1855 ingekapseld.
