Bij Huis Dahl gaat het om een voormalige hoeve, die uit de 12e eeuw stamt en voor het eerst als Huis Dale in 1184 verschijnt. In 1273 werd er gesproken over Huis Daele. Tussendoor werd het huis ook kasteel genoemd, wat blijkt uit een akte van 1184, toen de aartsbisschop van Keulen het kasteel verwierf.
Het ridderhof was tot de 15e eeuw in handen van de von Dahl, kwam vervolgens in het bezit van de von Kalle, daarna hadden de families von Diepfhaus en von Degingk het bezit onder zich, en vanaf 1855 de familie Gerstein. Huis Dahl was in die tijd een landtagsgerechtigd ridderhof.
