De plaats was tot 1972 een zelfstandige gemeente en behoort sindsdien tot de stad Lüchow. Het dorpskern is sinds de middeleeuwen waarschijnlijk maar weinig veranderd en was in het vroege 19de eeuw een langgerekt plein. Tegenwoordig wordt het dorpskern gekenmerkt door overwegend goed bewaarde hallenhuizen uit de 19de eeuw.
De evangelische kapel is een rechthoekige zaal, waarvan het oudere oostelijke gedeelte uit de 15de eeuw in steen is uitgevoerd, terwijl het westelijke gedeelte vakwerk uit de 17de eeuw bevat. De vrijstaande houten klokkentoren in het westen dateert uit de 16de eeuw en de bronzen klok uit de tijd rond 1300.
