Essinghausen is een dorp en oostelijk deel van de stad Peine in de Landkreis Peine in Nedersaksen. Ten noorden van het dorp loopt de autosnelweg A2.
De eerste schriftelijke vermelding van het dorp dateert uit 1311 als „Esekeshusen“. De naam is samengesteld uit de genitief van de persoonsnaam „Esik“ en de uitdrukking „hausen“. Plaatsen met dit naamtype „Persoonsnaam – ing[e] – basiswoord voor nederzetting“ worden het Barsinghausen-type genoemd. De naam veranderde van „Esekhusen“ via „Eseckhusen“ uiteindelijk naar Essinghausen.
