Het Fort Mariensiel was als onderdeel van het vestigingsplan Wilhelmshaven een fort ter bescherming van de Pruisische oorlogshaven in Wilhelmshaven. Het ligt in Mariensiel in de gemeente Sande, net buiten Wilhelmshaven, dicht bij de Maade en het Ems-Jade-kanaal.
De Maadeforten Rüstersiel, Mariensiel en Schaar werden op 4 augustus 1876 in de Wilhelmshavener Zeitung aangekondigd. De bouwwerken waren in 1880 voltooid. Door een nieuw aangelegde omloopweg was Fort Mariensiel verbonden met de forten Schaar en Rüstersiel, deze was uitgerust met spoorrails voor veldspoor. Het verloop kwam overeen met dat van de huidige straten An der Vogelwarte, Dodoweg en Kurt-Schumacher-Straße. Tijdens de Eerste Wereldoorlog bevond zich noordwestelijk van de site de Flakbatterij Roffhausen. Zuidelijk lag de Flakbatterij Sande en oostelijk de Flakbatterij Munitionshof.
