Berkum is een plaats in de gemeente Wachtberg in de Rhein-Sieg-Kreis in Noord-Rijnland-Westfalen, ten zuiden van Bonn. In Berkum bevindt zich het gemeentehuis van Wachtberg.
De gemarkung Berkum is 340 ha groot. Het ligt in het brongebied van de Berkumer Bach, die in Oberbachem samen met de Züllighovener Bach de Mehlemer Bach vormt. De gemarkung wordt topografisch gekenmerkt door de 258 m hoge Wachtberg – naar deze werd de gemeente Wachtberg in 1969 vernoemd – evenals de ongeveer 230 m hoge, noordelijk gelegen Stumpeberg en de Hohenberg in het zuiden. De grens van de gemarkung is in het zuidwesten tevens de landsgrens tussen Noord-Rijnland-Westfalen en Rijnland-Palts.
Door Berkum loopt de provinciale weg L 123 van Mehlem naar Meckenheim. Op de heuvelrug boven het bebouwde gebied loopt de Kreisstraße K 58.
