Het Olympisch Stadion Lluís Companys, ter ere van de president van de Generalitat van Catalonië, Lluís Companys, die in 1940 door het franquistische regime werd geëxecuteerd op de berg Montjuïc, bevindt zich op de berg Montjuïc. Het werd ontworpen door de architect Pere Domènech i Roura en geopend in 1929 ter gelegenheid van de Wereldtentoonstelling van Barcelona. In de jaren zestig werd het onderbenut en begonnen de tribunes zorgwekkende symptomen van verval te vertonen. De viering van de Olympische Spelen van 1992 in Barcelona maakte een renovatie mogelijk door het architecten team Correa-Milà-Margarit-Buixadé en met de deelname van de Italiaan Gregotti.
