Het Koninklijk Paleis van Madrid is het werkpaleis van de koning van Spanje. Met een oppervlakte van 135.000 m² en 3418 kamers, is het het grootste koninklijke paleis in de wereld.
Het eerste Koninklijk Paleis in Madrid, dateert uit de 9e eeuw. Het was toentertijd een fort dat was gebouwd door het islamitisch koninkrijk Toledo. Dit fort werd onder meer gebruikt door de koningen van Castilië. Het fort bood ruimte voor de bouw van een alcázar in de 11e eeuw.
