Talarn is een dorp en gemeente in de comarca Pallars Jussà. Het dorp Talarn was de voormalige hoofdstad van de comarca Pallars Jussà, een status die het in de late middeleeuwen verloor ten gunste van Tremp. Het gemeentelijk grondgebied ligt in het midden, naar het westen hellend, van de comarca, op de best bereikbare plek van het geheel. Het dorp is echter, doordat het iets hoger gelegen is en buiten de communicatiewegen ligt, enigszins aan de rand, hoewel het zeer dichtbij is, zowel van de communicatiewegen als van Tremp zelf.
