De Casa Mila van architect Antoni Gaudi werd gebouwd voor Rosario Segimon en Pere Milà.
Het oorspronkelijke ontwerp werd niet gevolgd omdat de lokale overheid bezwaar maakte tegen sommige aspecten van het project. Ze legden de eigenaren boetes op voor vele overtredingen van de regelgeving en bevalen de sloop van onderdelen die de gemeentelijke bouwnorm overschreden. Het oorspronkelijke plan omvatte ook een enorm beeld bovenop het gebouw, dat de godin Gaia voorstelde. Dit beeld is er echter nooit geplaatst.
Tegenwoordig behoort het huis tot het UNESCO-werelderfgoed.
