De bouw van het theater begon in 1738, maar werd vertraagd door een aantal problemen (oorlogen, verduistering, enz.) en de eerste voorstelling vond pas 14 jaar later plaats. Het is desondanks het oudste theater in Frankrijk dat nog steeds in bedrijf is.
Geopend volgens programma.
Het theater wordt momenteel gerenoveerd en de programmering wordt verplaatst naar andere locaties.
