In de Spiegelzaal van het Kasteel van Versailles werd op 28 juni 1919 het uiteindelijke vredesverdrag van WO I, het verdrag van Versailles getekend. Daar werd ook beslist dat Duitsland de panelen van het Gentse Lam Gods moest terug geven. Op zich wel uitzonderlijk, want Duitsland had dat ooit gekocht en niet gestolen. De panelen bevonden zich in het Kaiser Friedrich Museum in Berlijn.
