De zuil van Vendôme, opgericht in het hart van de Place Vendôme in 1810, is 44 meter hoog. Als eerbetoon aan de dappere soldaten van Austerlitz werd het geïnspireerd door de majestueuze Trajanuszuil in Rome. De schacht, gemaakt van 1200 kanonnen die werden buitgemaakt op de Russische en Oostenrijkse legers, is versierd met bas-reliëfs die doen denken aan trofeeën in de stijl van de Oudheid. Een symbool van grootsheid en heldendom dat trots in de Franse hoofdstad staat.
