Hier in Le Vésinet kwam de Belgische operazanger Jules Godart om. Hij was een wereldberoemde superster, maar zijn leven eindigde op tragische wijze hier in 1909. Godart stond op het punt door te breken in de Verenigde Staten toen hij betrokken raakte bij een fataal incident in Parijs. Of het om moord of een noodlottig ongeluk ging, is nooit helemaal opgehelderd.
Hij overleed daar op 22 oktober 1909, in het huis van vrienden waar hij en zijn vrouw logeerden na een maaltijd. De exacte plek waar hij stierf was dus het huis van het echtpaar Doudieux in Le Vésinet.
Zijn dood werd gereconstrueerd door Cedric Lagast, journalist bij Het Nieuwsblad, die in de Parijse archieven dook om de ware toedracht te achterhalen.
