Proef bij Meert van de befaamde wafels geviuld met vanille uit Madagascar. Toen Charles de Gaulle president was liet hij de wafels van Meert op zijn bureau in Parijs bezorgen. Meert is tevens de oudste banketbakkerij en mooiste theesalon van de stad met een weelderig decor uit 1839.
