Tijdens een boottocht of vanaf de top van de Dune du Pilat kunt u deze zandbank bewonderen die sinds 1972 als natuurreservaat is geclassificeerd. Het is de grootste kust van de Gironde en strekt zich bij eb uit over 4 km lang en 2 km breed. Gelegen aan de ingang van de baai van Arcachon, wordt het getransformeerd door de getijden en is het voortdurend in beweging. Als u het voorrecht hebt er voet aan wal te zetten, kunt u oesterkwekers aan het werk zien in hun oesterbanken en het onophoudelijke ballet van sterns en andere trekvogels.
