De abdij van Sint Pieter van Moissac is een architectonisch religieus geheel in het Occitaans waar de buitengewone romaanse sculpturen opvallen. De abdij, gesticht in de zevende eeuw in Aquitanië nabij de grens van Carcassonne, werd in 1047 verbonden met de machtige abdij van Cluny en werd, sinds de twaalfde eeuw, het meest prominente monastieke centrum van het zuidwesten van het Koningrijk Frankrijk. Hoewel de abdij en het klooster een opmerkelijk voorbeeld bieden van een mix van romaanse en gotische stijlen, is het timpaan van de zuidelijke entree de ware meesterwerk van Moissac.
