Tijdens een experiment dat hij uitvoerde in Parijs waarbij een stroomstoot door een ketting van mensen werd uitgevoerd stopte de stroomstoot bij "mannen die niet voorzien waren van mannelijke eigenschappen". Aldus werd hij uitgenodigd om deze these te testen op het hof van de Koning in Versailles. Daar werden 3 eunuchen ingeschakeld om de therorie te testen, maar het was duidelijk dat ook eunuchen "goede geleiders" waren.
