Het Maison Ecole du Grand Meaulnes is zowel een getuigenis van het schoolsysteem van de Derde Republiek als een plaats van literaire inspiratie: het nog levende decor van een van de beroemdste romans uit de Franse literatuur. Alain Fournier woonde er als kind van 1891 tot 1898, zijn ouders waren leraren in deze school waar hij zijn roman "Le Grand Meaulnes" heeft geschreven. Sinds 1994 is dit schoolgebouw teruggebracht in de staat waarin de jonge Henri Fournier het kende.
