De gotische kerk staat midden in het dorp. De torenspits rijst plechtig de lucht in, men zou kunnen denken dat het gebouw uit 1889 onaantastbaar was. Maar in november 1944 troffen 35 granaten het nabijgelegen gebied, met aanzienlijke schade tot gevolg. Slechts vier jaar later werd het gebouw, dat de inwoners na aan het hart lag, gerestaureerd. Het was de eerste kerk in het bisdom die na de oorlog werd herbouwd.
