Het Hôtel de Burtaigne werd gebouwd door de familie de Gournay in het begin van de 16e eeuw. De middeleeuwse invloed is nog steeds zichtbaar in het lage, ruitvormige dak, dat terugligt ten opzichte van de gevel, en de kleine ramen op de zolder, de bovenste verdieping. De architectuur heeft zich echter verwijderd van het Italiaanse model en sluit meer aan bij de Franse renaissance.
