Waarschijnlijk is het dorp Potensac ontstaan rond deze stromende bron, een zeldzaam verschijnsel in de Médoc. Een document uit de 19e eeuw vermeldt dat de stroom het leven van de bewoners en gebruikers van de weg naar Lesparre bemoeilijkt. Aan de zijkant zorgt een stenen stuw voor de stroming van de fontein in een cementen bassin met twee compartimenten. Zodra het eerste compartiment gevuld is, stroomt het water in het tweede, loopt vervolgens over in de goot, gaat onder de weg van Lesparre door en loopt via kleine gemeentelijke sloten naar de moerassen van Reysson en de Gironde via de fontein van Aubiers.
Het is een echte plaats van leven in het dorp.
