De departementale indeling ten tijde van de Revolutie plaatste deze parochie op de grenzen van het voormalige bisdom Limoges in de Indre. De kerk, die behoorde tot een priorij (gebouw herbouwd in het noorden) van de abdij van Bénévent, heeft zijn dwarsschip verloren, waarvan de scheuren nog bestaan en waarvan de noordelijke kapel de herinnering vereeuwigt (kapitelen uit de 11e eeuw). Het platte chevet met een groot halfrond raam werd afgesloten door het prachtige vergulde houten altaarstuk (18e eeuw), dat sindsdien is gerestaureerd en weer in de noordelijke kapel is gemonteerd. Dit meesterwerk van beeldhouwkunst alleen al is een bezoek waard. Het verwijderen ervan onthulde een weelderige beschildering.
