Gebouwd in de 14e eeuw, maakt het deel uit van het Grand Rempart de Verdun. Hij heeft de vorm van een hoefijzer en wordt ook wel de Tour du Puty genoemd. De naam "Plaids" komt van de rechtszittingen die daar in de middeleeuwen werden gehouden.

> De oude wal langs het Puty kanaal en de Islot toren.
> Het Canal du Puty loopt onder de Tour des Plaids door. Het is een van de vele kanalen van de Maas in Verdun. Deze grachten herinneren aan de tijd dat de leerlooierijen, die voor het leger werkten, een belangrijk deel van de industriële activiteit van Verdun vertegenwoordigden.
