De vereniging Transversales, opgericht in 1996, streeft naar een beleid van ondersteuning van kunstenaars en het ontwikkelen van instrumenten (benaderingen, projecten) om creatief werk, artistieke praktijken en cultuur dichter bij de lokale bevolking te brengen. Met de hulp van talrijke partners en de wil om een echte lokale culturele overheidsdienst op te bouwen die betrokken is bij de creatie, zowel in Verdun als in de landelijke regio's van Centraal- en Noord-Maas, organiseert Transversales een multidisciplinair seizoen (circus, theater, klassieke en wereldmuziek), organiseert het workshops voor amateurkunstenaars en creëert het een cultureel netwerk dat rondleidingen in landelijke regio's mogelijk maakt.
