De wederopbouw van Chauny na de Eerste Wereldoorlog verdient bijzondere aandacht. Chauny was de eerste stad in Frankrijk met een plan voor ontwikkeling, verfraaiing en uitbreiding. Decoratieve elementen van de "art deco" stijl op de gevels of binnenin de gebouwen maken het een stad met een uitzonderlijk erfgoed om te herontdekken. Tegenwoordig is het bij een bezoek aan de stad interessant om te weten dat over de indeling van elk gebouw zeer breed overleg is gepleegd. Niet te missen: de Saint-Martin kerk, het overdekte marktplein, de Notre-Dame kerk, de Gambetta boulevard, het Foch plein, de feestzaal.
