La ricostruzione di Chauny dopo la Prima Guerra Mondiale merita un interesse particolare. Chauny è stata la prima città in Francia a dotarsi di un piano di sviluppo, abbellimento e ampliamento. Gli elementi decorativi dello stile "art déco" sulle facciate o all'interno degli edifici ne fanno una città con un patrimonio eccezionale da riscoprire. Oggi, visitando la città, è interessante sapere che la disposizione di ogni edificio è stata oggetto di una consultazione molto ampia. Da non perdere: la chiesa di Saint-Martin, la piazza del mercato coperto, la chiesa di Notre-Dame, il viale Gambetta, la piazza Foch, il salone delle feste.
