La reconstrucción de Chauny tras la Primera Guerra Mundial merece un interés especial. Chauny fue la primera ciudad de Francia en contar con un plan de desarrollo, embellecimiento y ampliación. Los elementos decorativos de estilo "art déco" en las fachadas o en el interior de los edificios la convierten en una ciudad con un patrimonio excepcional que hay que redescubrir. Hoy, al visitar la ciudad, es interesante saber que la disposición de cada edificio fue objeto de una amplia consulta. No se pierda: la iglesia de Saint-Martin, la plaza del mercado cubierto, la iglesia de Notre-Dame, el bulevar Gambetta, la plaza Foch, la sala de fiestas.
