De Sainte-Marthe-schacht is de oudste mijnschacht van het Lotharingse steenkoolbekken en is een overblijfsel van de plaatselijke mijnindustrie. De Puits Sainte-Marthe, een symbool van de stad Stiring-Wendel, getuigt van de zoektocht naar steenkool in de ondergrond van Stiring-Wendel en is een publiek bezit geworden door deel uit te maken van het erfgoed van de stad en een herdenkingsplaats met een architecturale stijl die uniek is in onze regio.
