Champneuville is een dorp dat in 1915 nog overeind stond (zoals op deze foto van luitenant Barbier, gestationeerd in "Les Côtelettes" (collectie Sutera-Sardo)
Er zijn veel dorpen in de Maas die verwoest zijn door de oorlog van 1914 - 1918. Kleine dorpjes zonder geschiedenis werden plotseling ingehaald door de geschiedenis. Veel van hun inwoners, die gedwongen werden het land te verlaten, kwamen terug en bouwden na veel moeite weer op.
Deze tentoonstelling getuigt van het lange geheugen van de twee dorpen van Champneuville. Het werd mogelijk gemaakt door de ontdekking van archiefschatten: oude schriften, oude foto's, mondelinge getuigenissen? en door de goede wil van al diegenen die zich betrokken voelden bij de noodzaak van herinnering?
Het secretariaat van het stadhuis is geopend op woensdag en donderdag van 8.30 tot 12.00 uur.
